The Ministry of Defense clarified in an official statement posted on Twitter that the strong thunder-like sound that was heard in the south of the country was the result of continuous exercises by the Qatari Amiri Air Force within the country's airspace.
Many residents living in Al Wakra, Al Wukair and the southern outskirts of Doha heard the explosion-like sound.
An Al Wukair resident said on social media that while he was driving, he felt that something had hit his car.
Another person added that he thought something huge had fallen from the sky next to his house.
"I felt our house was shaking and some windows opened," a lady tweeted.
