Doha: Ministry of Commerce and Industry clarified in a statement on social media that they set maximum price for only commodities like vegetables, fruits, fish and some basic commodities.
As for other commodities, their prices may vary from one supermarket to the other.
The clarification came in response to many queries and messages received from consumers about price discrepancy between supermarkets and the role of the ministry in controlling prices.
“We would like to clarify that the Ministry sets the maximum prices for vegetables, fruits and fish, in addition to other basic commodities. As for the rest of the other commodities, their prices may vary from one outlet to the other.
“Accordingly, we advise consumers to compare prices and quality between outlets and take the appropriate decision when purchasing,” ministry said on Twitter.
