According to a statement from MCIT, the Enabling Technologies Award category recognises the efforts of international smart cities to advance innovation and technologies for the creation of a better future for cities and their citizens as part of the globally renowned event for the empowering and celebration of smart cities.

Reem al-Mansoori, Assistant Undersecretary of Digital Society Development, at MCIT, said that TASMU Platform has been met with unprecedented success for the establishment of a digital ecosystem that drives Qatar’s sustainable development in line with Qatar’s National Vision 2030. “This recognition is a testimony for the boundless efforts of our team and partners to bring and develop digital solutions and services for the citizens and residents of Qatar,” al-Mansoori said.

TASMU is directed at providing smart technologies and solutions across the sectors of transport, healthcare, logistics, environment, and sports. The Programmes’ cloud based TASMU Platform has been designed to enable the digital environment for Qatar’s sustainable economic diversification.

It went live through collaboration between MCIT and its main partner, Ooredoo, which led the efforts through a consortium of world-class technological organisations to deliver on the vision of establishing a Smart Qatar as part of a knowledge-based sustainable economy that serves as a benchmark for the evolution of smart cities around the world. This endeavour was supported by local and international partners such as Malomatia and Microsoft, among many others.

With a primary focus on developing Qatar’s unified national data ecosystem, the TASMU Platform enables cross-sector data sharing, underpinned by security and data governance policies. The Platform’s national integration layer acts as an enabler, accelerating the deployment and go-to-market of smart use-cases by Qatar’s government sectors, top enterprises and innovators worldwide.
