Doha: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has urged local producers and manufacturers to adhere to using the new 'Qatari Product' logo when displaying, marketing their products in all outlets across Qatar.
In a tweet on its official handle, the Ministry also asked local producers and manufacturers to stop using the old logo. The Ministry also stressed the need to comply with the general requirements for using the new Qatari Product logo.
The Ministry said the logo may be used by all manufacturers and producers who have official approvals and licenses as well as sales outlets.
The logo may be placed on advertising publications. It is to be placed on all products that are manufactured or partly manufactured locally. The Ministry unveiled the new logo for branding Qatari products in December last year.
The logo is to be placed on the principal display surface of the product, or anywhere clear to the consumer making sure not to place it at the base of the item, the Ministry said.
It added that upon using the logo, its design specifications, shape and content may not be changed. Logo stickers can be placed on freight and distribution vehicles in a size that suits that of the vehicle.
Manufacturers, producers and outlets had been given a grace period of six months to get the new logo on their products and everyone is expected to adhere to this timescale.
In another post, the Ministry reminded businesses to avoid trademark infringement. “The Qatar law protects brands whose scope are not limited to the country of origin; it prohibits others from using the well-known brand to confuse the public,” the Ministry said in another tweet.
