The fourth edition of Mahaseel Festival continues to draw large crowds to Katara-The Cultural Village. The wide variety of local agricultural products and perfect weather is providing visitors with an atmosphere to enjoy, shop and relax.
A statement from Katara said the festival is witnessing a huge turnout of foreign and local tourists. The festival showcases flowers and ornamental plants while it educates the visitors about the latest trends in the farming sector by holding seminars and displaying techniques and farming equipment. Food outlets offer a wide variety of local, regional and international delicacies.
The annual festival is taking place at Katara’s southern area (opposite of St Regis Doha) until Saturday. It is a part of Katara’s efforts to achieve the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 in attaining food security and self-sufficiency in farming and production while helping Qatari farmers market their products and share experiences and expertise.
This edition of the festival is attended by 34 pavilions run by national companies from farming and food production sectors. While 24 are local farms specialised in vegetables, eggs, honey and dates production, three companies are engaged in dairy and juices production, three others are eggs and poultry producers while six are farms focused in the production of flowers and ornamental plants.
Vegetables are sold at Mahaseel after cleaning and packing by a specialised team under the supervision of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment. The timing is from 9am to 9pm. From January 2020, the Mahaseel market will be open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday until March 31.
