LuLu Hypermarket at D Ring Road, which reopened recently after deep cleaning and sanitation, is taking all possible measures of the highest standard to ensure the safety and welfare of shoppers against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), LuLu Group International regional manager Shanavas P M has said.
“LuLu D Ring is now one of the safest stores to shop in Qatar,” he told Gulf Times, stressing that every shelf and section at the store has been cleaned and sanitised properly.
Shavanas noted that volunteers from Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) are at LuLu stores to help encourage customers to follow social distancing measures while shopping.
Besides raising awareness on Covid-19 and on safe shopping, guidelines also include advising people to keep a reasonable distance within store premises, discouraging the use of reusable bags, and washing or sanitising their hands regularly, among others.
LuLu also advised customers to limit one person for every household to do the shopping and the use of cashless/contactless payment as much as possible.
As part of precautionary measures, LuLu stores installed transparent protective screens at checkout queues to add more protection for both cashiers and customers. Exclusive checkouts for health workers, elderly and vulnerable people are also in place.

Meanwhile, many residents lauded LuLu’s decision to have some vegetables, fruits, roaster, cheese, meat, bakery and other products, pre-packed, saying that such measure also helps in preventing the spread of the virus.
Shavanas said that they constantly clean and sanitise trolleys and basket handles, and other relevant and touch areas.
Following the directives from Qatari authorities, he stressed that wearing of face masks and gloves has become mandatory while inside LuLu stores.
The hypermarket chain also ramped up its online shopping to meet the growing number of customers who prefer to order from home.
He reiterated that LuLu conducts constant cleaning and sanitising of its staff accommodations for the safety of all their employees.
LuLu’s campaign includes promoting “proper hygiene and cleanliness at every possible juncture, starting from disinfecting constantly all areas of its facilities, as well as equipment that come in wider contact.”
It is learnt that many customers, who have been asked to stay or work from home, find it safer and comfortable to do their shopping online amid the pandemic.
