The lecture was presented by the Director of the Public Relations and Communication Department Bandar Mansour al-Hawban, and the Head of the Taxpayer Support Department at the General Tax Authority Nasser Mohamed Radi, with the aim of educating entrepreneurs registered under productive families at the ministry.
The lecture aimed at educating productive families on the services of the General Tax Authority. It touched upon the methods of submitting a simplified tax return.
Al-Hawban assured owners of small and micro enterprises that home businesses and any commercial activity owned by a Qatari is not subject to tax. However, he pointed out that a Qatari individual who has a home licence or commercial registry is obligated to register on the website (electronic tax portal) to submit the declaration, adding that this declaration must be submitted before the end of this month, after which they will have to pay a financial penalty.
Radi said the owner of the small or micro-enterprises must first register on the government website using the personal number, after which all companies registered in his name will appear on the list and he has to then visit the electronic tax portal website to register and submit a simplified tax return.
Radi said that in the event of delay in registering and submitting the simplified tax return there will be a penalty of QR20,000, after 60 days have lapsed from the date of issuance of the commercial registration or commercial licence.
