Qatar’s progress and development over the years did not go well with the
neighbouring Gulf states and the resulting envy triggered the blockade,
the Overseas Nepali Forum chairman c told Qatar Urdu
Radio’s live show Haqeeqat yesterday.
“The blockade was meant to violate Qatar’s sovereignty and independence
because countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE were envious of Qatar’s
progress,” he stated.
Pokhrel said that the measures taken by the blockading countries proved
futile as people still come to Qatar both for tourism and work. “Qatar
is liked by people from Nepal and other countries because of its
efficient legal system and the environment that is very welcoming,”
Pokhrel added. Haqeeqat, which aims to engage and interact with the
large South Asian expatriate community in Qatar, is a joint venture of
the Gulf Times and Qatar Media Corp Urdu Radio. The show is hosted by
Saif-ur-Rehman. It is broadcast from Sunday to Thursday on FM107.
