FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 ambassador, YouTuber, rap artiste and social media star Wessam Qutob is excited to share Qatar’s FIFA World Cup journey with his millions of followers. The Palestinian influencer is famous for his comedic skits that have captured the imagination of viewers across the region, making him a household name in the process.

He is also a proud FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 ambassador and cannot wait to attend the first edition of the tournament in the Middle East and Arab world.

“I believe in the power of football to create bonds and bring people together,” Qutob told the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. “Later this year, fans from across the world will come to Qatar to support their teams, but more importantly, meet new people and learn about the region’s culture and our signature hospitality.”

For a huge football fan like Qutob, hosting the FIFA World Cup in his home region is a dream come true. “I grew up watching football, and the World Cup in particular. To have the tournament hosted right here in the Arab world will be such a huge honour for everyone that loves the beautiful game. As a content creator and YouTuber, I am particularly excited to showcase our abilities to host mega-sporting events to the rest of the world.”

Qutob sees Qatar 2022 as a unique opportunity to dispel stereotypes about the region.

He said: “What I’ve seen during my visits to Qatar reaffirmed my beliefs that Qatar 2022 will be the most remarkable edition of the World Cup yet. From speaking to tournament organisers, many of who are from all over the Arab world, it is very clear that there is a real desire to show off our talents and abilities in delivering a memorable event.”

“With all of my content, I aim to inspire people, either through art or comedy. Football is already such a rich tapestry of passion, elation and sometimes despair. So for all of that magic to come to a region that is football-obsessed, will be a dream for content creators – no matter the language they speak,” added Qutob.

Qatar 2022 will be held from November 20 to December 18 across eight stadiums. It will be the most compact edition of the tournament in modern history, with the longest distance between stadiums just 75km. The biggest tournament venue will be the 80,000-capacity Lusail Stadium, which will host the Lusail Super Cup on September 9, followed by 10 matches during Qatar 2022, including the final on Qatar National Day. “Even though all eight stadiums will leave a striking imprint in the minds of viewers from around the world, Lusail Stadium, with its magnificent design, will always be remembered as the venue that hosted the first World Cup final in the Arab world,” said Qutob.

“Qatar 2022 will set a new standard in so many ways – both in its compact nature and its commitment to sustainability. More and more young people are concerned about the state of the environment and seeing that sustainability is at the heart of this tournament is something I want to share with my fans.”

Qutob is also determined for the region to capitalise on the benefits of hosting the FIFA World Cup.

“Ultimately, what I want to do is reaffirm that we as Arabs are capable of hosting the world’s biggest events, that we are much greater than the stereotypes that we have been labelled with and that football is an integral part of who we are,” he said.
