Postage stamps featuring the winning entries of Katara - The Cultural Village Foundation drawing competition for children were launched on Sunday by Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti.
Six winners were selected out of 390 participants who submitted 572 drawings to the competition launched on the occasion of the International Children's Day in 2019 in co-operation with Qatar Post. The participants aged 7-14 were from many Arab and non-Arab countries.
Four of the first winning entries were selected to be printed on special memorial stamps. According to Hamad Mohamed al-Fahida, chief operating officer at Qatar Post, the stamps were designed at Qatar Post and 10,000 were printed in addition to 4,000 memorial cards at the best French print houses.
"These stamps are available for the public at all Qatar Post branches and at the Arab postal stamps museum at Katara," he said.
Dr al-Sulaiti thanked all the participants for their efforts and interest, stressing that more such initiatives will be launched by Katara in the future to encourage children to exercise their creativity and innovation, and to support them accordingly.
