Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) conducted mock drills on June 15 and 16 2020 to test the ability and readiness of its vital facilities to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Kahramaa said in a statement that the drills were part of its’s keenness to ensure the sustainability of the service and provide a healthy and safe environment for its employees and all those dealing with it.
The mock drills which were conducted at the National Control Center and the Distribution Control Center aimed to test the readiness of officials and the ability and effectiveness of Kahramaa’s plans and risk mitigation measures for emergency conditions and the readiness of the two centers to face such risks in order to ensure the sustainability of the service and the health and safety of the people.
With the spread of the coronavirus and announcing it as a global epidemic, Kahramaa formed a crisis management team headed by its President Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari.
The sub-teams were also set up to follow up the developments of the virus and combat its consequences by enforcing state preventive and precautionary measures in a way that ensures the sustainability of the service and safety of Kahramaa’s employees and all those dealing with it.
The risk assessment team of the main crisis management team worked on identifying and analyzing all operational risks related to the coronavirus for all departments, and making sure that all plans are ready and effective through several phases, including the evaluation phase by identifying internal and external risks according to several scenarios to ensure the work progress.
