In a global first for Qatar, Doha Festival City (DHFC) will soon open the Angry Birds World theme park, it was announced yesterday.
Angry Birds World is a concept introduced and developed by Trimoo, in collaboration with Talal bin Mohamed Trading and Rovio Entertainment Corporation.
Designed and developed over a 17,000sq m area at DHFC, the first-of-its-kind entertainment park will draw visitors into a range of more than 20 high-thrill rides for all ages. The park will also feature an array of food and beverage outlets, retail shops, ‘edu-tainment’ activities and attractions that will engage and entertain families.
“Our objective has always been to deliver more than just entertainment. We believe that with creativity, innovation, game and design thinking we can revolutionise the way people experience the world,” Trimoo CEO Riad Makdessi said. “While our range of attractions is inherently thrilling, we are also focusing on educational activities that will help nourish the curious minds of children,” he added.
“We are determined to set new standards of entertainment in Qatar, offering visitors a new destination of untamed fun and adventure, and most importantly – create lasting memories,” Makdessi noted. Simo Hamalainen, senior vice president, Brand Licensing at Rovio said: “We are thrilled to offer the Angry Birds universe experience in its physical form to millions of Angry Birds fans.”
“With the Angry Birds Movie 2 now in production and the opening of Angry Birds World, we have set two important milestones for the Angry Birds brand on a global level,” Hamalainen added. DHFC said the park’s indoor section is quickly shaping up for a launch within the upcoming months, followed by the opening of its outdoor area.
The park’s inauguration will mark a historic milestone for Qatar given that it is a first-ever Angry Birds World, according to DHFC. The mega-million project is being developed in line with the Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030.
