The Indian Community Benevolent Forum’s (ICBF) insurance scheme has generated a good response. “Hundreds of applicants are flocking daily to get enrolled in the scheme since it was launched on December 25,” a statement said. “The scheme is going to be a huge success with co-operation from community organisations and companies,” it was explained.
The scheme is implemented in association with Damaan Islamic Insurance Company – Beema. Any Indian expatriate between 18-65 years can join. The registration process needs a valid Qatar ID.
The premium is QR125 for two years while the coverage is QR100,000 in the event of death.
The amount will be disbursed to the beneficiary’s families if valid documents are submitted after death. The scheme also covers permanent or partial disability up to a maximum of QR100,000, depending on the percentage of disability.
The insurance scheme is mainly aimed at low-income Indian expatriates, including labourers and those who work in restaurants, supermarkets and barbershops.
ICBF is carrying out awareness programmes in order to ensure the participation of maximum beneficiaries.
A special meeting of all Indian associations in Qatar was held at the Integrated Indian Community Centre (IICC) on Wednesday. More than 150 people, representing various community organisations, attended. Measures to be taken to reach the goal of 100,000 enrolment within six months were discussed. ICBF officials Avinash Gaikwad, Mahesh Gowda and Juttas Paul were present.
Those who would like to join the insurance scheme can fill the forms available online at ICBF Facebook page or website and submit it to the ICBF office along with copies of passport and QID. Services at ICBF office at Indian Embassy is available every working day from 9am to 5pm. The ICBF office at the IICC works Monday to Saturday from 12pm to 8pm and on Sundays from 4pm to 8pm.
