In the framework of the Qatar National Day celebration 2019, many outlets at Souq Waqif, different malls and shops have stocked adequate quantities of items associated with the celebrations such as flags, clothes, swords, posters and accessories in order to attract residents.
Most of the exhibits for the National Day celebrations are for children as compared to stocks for other age groups. Schools and educational institutions are also keen to decorate and celebrate this national occasion which falls on December 18 each year with full fervour.
“The prices of items range from QR5 to more than QR100 depending on the quality, size and other features of the products. Most of the small gifts like key rings are being sold at prices not exceeding QR20. Sellers expect the turnout to increase as the National Day approaches near,” said a shopkeeper at Souq Waqif. He also added that the shop keepers were expecting high demand of products with the start of Darb Al Saai.
A number of shopping malls have also dedicated special stands to offer National Day accessories and these special counters are receiving large number customers especially children.
“We celebrate National Day every year. It is an occasion to promote Qatar’s national identity, loyalty, solidarity and unity. Each person celebrates National Day in his own way. Some buy souvenirs, others buy Qatari flags while children prefer clothes bearing Qatari flag,” said Yousef, a Qatari citizen.
He also said that some people specially youth decorate their cars with National Day themed posters or the image of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
For his part, Al Ansari, a Qatari citizen, pointed out that on such an important occasion, shops are exhibiting different accessories in Qatari flag colour (maroon) and people are keen to buy the stuff for their children specially swords and flags.
The organizing committee of the National Day celebrations 2019 continues to equip Darb Al Saai, the prime venue of Qatar National Day celebration which will host thousands of visitors for the National Day celebration activities.
The activities at Darb Al Saai will be launched on December 12, and will continue until December 20 . Last year, about 30 entities from government and non-government sector participated in Darb Al Saai festivities.
