Doha: Hamad Medical Corporation’s Trauma and Emergency Center has opened an expanded area for the assessment of female patients. The expansion has resulted in a 60 percent increase in bed capacity within the female assessment area and is delivering improved access to emergency care services for these patients.
Dr. Abdulla Al Ansari, HMC’s Chief Medical Officer, said the expansion of the assessment area is an important advancement for the Trauma and Emergency Center that would improve patient satisfaction. “Since opening in 2019, the Trauma and Emergency Center has been providing high-quality medical services to patients in need of emergency healthcare services. The recent expansion of the female assessment area is another step forward for the Center that will ensure these patients are rapidly assessed and given the appropriate treatment for their needs, thereby increasing patient satisfaction.”
Trauma and Emergency Center ensures that patients in need of critical emergency medical care are given the medical care they need promptly. Patients are received through the See and Treat on the ground floor of the Center as well as via the trauma, urgent and critical care services available across the Center’s other three floors.
Dr Aftab Mohammad Azad, Deputy Chairman, Corporate Dept of Emergency Medicine said the expanded female assessment area is one of multiple recent developments which have been made to improve the quality of care given to patients. “The expansion of the female assessment area is already improving the overall care experience for our patients and this development follows the recently established Emergency Department Observation Unit. This new Unit is dedicated to patients who have moderate medical conditions, but do not need full admission to Hamad General Hospital’s Inpatient Unit, and require monitoring and treatment for up to 23 hours before being discharged home. These service advancements are examples of our commitment to continually working to improve the quality of care and access to services for our patients.”
