Doha, Qatar: As travel peaks with the upcoming Eid Al Adha holidays and summer break, Hamad International Airport has issued an alert to ensure smooth travel amid the influx of travelers.
In a statement, the airport indicated that the departure peak is expected to start on Thursday, June 13, and continue through the weekend. Increased arrivals are anticipated to begin the weekend of June 20.
The airport confirmed that it has "planned extensively" to manage this busy period efficiently. HIA has provided a set of guidelines to help passengers travel with ease during this peak time:
Check-In Online: Passengers are encouraged to check in online before arriving at the airport. This allows for a smoother and faster check-in process, reducing wait times and ensuring a stress-free travel experience.
Arrive Early: To ensure a seamless travel experience, passengers should arrive at the airport four hours before their scheduled flight departure. This allows ample time for check-in, security screening, and boarding procedures.
Use Self-Service Check-In and Bag-Drop Services: Qatar Airways passengers can use the airport's self-service check-in and bag-drop services. These services enable passengers to check in themselves, print boarding passes and bag tags, tag their bags, and drop them at the bag drop counter. This convenient option speeds up the check-in process and helps minimize queue times.
E-Gate Machines: Citizens and residents above the age of 18 are encouraged to use the airport's e-gate machines for faster immigration clearance, streamlining the process and allowing quicker entry into the departure area.
Check-In and Boarding Closure Times: Check-in closes 60 minutes before departure, and boarding closes 20 minutes before departure. Passengers must complete the check-in process and proceed to the departure gate with these timelines in mind.
Baggage Allowance and Weight Restrictions: Passengers are reminded to adhere to baggage allowance and weight restrictions specified by their airline. Staying within the designated weight and size requirements is essential to avoid additional fees or delays during the check-in process.
Avoid Non-Standard Luggage: Travelers should refrain from using non-standard or oversized luggage that may pose challenges during security screening and boarding. Stick to conventional luggage options for a hassle-free travel experience.
Drop-Offs and Pick-Ups: It is suggested to use the short-term car park for pick-ups and drop-offs. Public transport options can also be utilized when suitable for traveling to and from the airport.
