Growing demand for portable cabins, camps on beaches

The companies that provide portable cabins and makeshift camps for rent alongside the various beaches across Qatar are having a brisk business, with growing demand throughout the summer holidays.

Local Arabic daily Arrayah pointed out that the services of these companies are available at most public beaches, including Al Wakra, Al Khor, Ras Matbakh, Al Maroona, Fuwairait, Al Ghariya, and Dukhan.

Accordingly, a good number of Qataris and expatriates make use of these services to better enjoy the beaches.

The portable cabins and camps come with “5-star” service that includes fully furnished and equipped rooms, in addition to a kitchen, toilets and open air lounges.

The company owners stressed that the demand was very good from Thursdays to Saturdays all through the summer holidays.

The rent for 10 hours amounts to QR800, covering all the related services of water, electricity, while that for a complete day and night could come to QR2,000.

The companies concerned are ready to provide their services at all the land and sea sites permitted by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC).

Mohamed Rashid, owner of a portable cabin rentals company, said that the sector has been experiencing a considerable revival as many companies have applied to obtain the necessary licences from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Qatar Tourism.

Mohamed al-Emadi, owner of another company, said most of his customers are families, both Qataris and expatriates.

Company owner Ahmed Abdulrahman said that the prices charged for the services are reasonable when compared to the amount invested by the company.

Accordingly, the company owners suggested that the entities concerned should further explore this new investment area, given the growing demand.
