Doha: A plethora of grand activities will kick off at the Cultural Village Foundation Katara today in celebration of the Middle East and Arab world’s first FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Katara has already been all aglow and is now set to provide its best for visitors from all over the globe with events of various cultures in art, dance, music, painting, folklore and performing arts. The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara will be providing an exhaustive feast of activities to visitors with events representing diverse cultures. A whopping 51 main events will see 300 sub-events with the participation of 22 countries.
These events will continue during the period from November 18 to December 18. They are divided into five main categories; festivals, parties, exhibitions, live performances, and various events .
Today will witness the opening of a series of art exhibitions, including: ‘The Faces of the World’ exhibition (relating to the first FIFA World Cup); a ‘Solar Exhibition’ presented by the Embassy of the Republic of El Salvador; ‘Qatari Plastic Art Exhibition’, ‘Katara Museum of Traditional Dhow’, ‘Katara International Ceramics Exhibition’, ‘Football’, and ‘Fine Art and Collectibles Exhibition’.
Also there will be the opening of World Cup postage stamp exhibition, Oud history exhibition, Iranian cultural exhibition, sports caricature exhibition, Arabic calligraphy activities, activities for children with special needs in cooperation with Qatar Foundation for Social Work, Katara International Handicraft Market, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation event, Al Dar Cultural Tent, Sports Engineering and the Qatar World Cup with the Qatar Society of Engineers.
The festive program also includes a group of concerts, including Maher Al Zein, Hammoud Al Khidr, and concerts of Thamer Ashour, Ahmed Saad, Aseel Hamim, DJ Aseel, Saud Jassim, Elissa, Adam, in addition to concerts from Argentina, Britain and other nations.
The audience will also be on a date with a variety of shows, including the world show ‘Balloons Wonderland’, the global show ‘Bubbles Spectacler’, a musical show for sustainable development, good health for all (Education Above All), and the Planetarium Pleiades shows, in addition to a performance and a traditional musical performance by Qatari musician Hamed Al Nama. Various other activities of the Street Art Festival will also go on in and around the Cultural Village.
The opening day of Katara events ahead of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will also see 22 books about the World Cup being launched by the Katara Publishing House.
Visitors will also enjoy various other activities including puzzle games (Qatar Association of Certified Public Accountants), the activities of the Book Center, activities of the Clock Club, Katara Center for Arabic Fiction, Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Center, and Center for Arabic Fiction, Kahraman, Sadu Center, Fashion Center, Rababah event, Qatar Guests events, architecture and mosques events, and induction panels.
The Katara Amphitheatre will host a number of lectures by Mustafa Hosni, Omar Suleiman, Noman Ali Khan, Ahmed Al Shugairi, a Shattered Legend event (6 speakers), in addition to various other activities such as gifts events Ibn Al Rayb Street and other events from a number of centers and associations.
Katara will also have a number of competitions, including the plastic art competition, the photography competition, and the Katara Golden Talent competition.
The 12th Katara Traditional Dhow Festival will be inaugurated on Saturday and will continue till December 18th. The festival which is laid at the Katara Beach and promenade, will include 50 pavilions - including exhibitions of marine heritage collectibles and others for crafts and handicrafts known as 43 handicrafts, and ship building workshops. Nine countries: Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, Yemen, India, Turkey and Tanzania will be featuring at this year’s Katara Traditional Dhow Festival.
