Al Sheehaniya Municipality’s Health Control Section conducted 480 inspection tours in July at food establishments to ensure that the food products on display were fit for human consumption.
Three food samples were taken during the campaign and sent to the central laboratory for examination. While two of these samples were proven to be of good quality, and the third was found unfit for consumption.
In addition, 65 warnings were issued to different outlets asking them to take the necessary steps to abide by food health and safety regulations.
Meanwhile, the second Local Dates Festival saw sales of 9.5 tonnes and received around 3,500 visitors on Monday, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) said in a statement yesterday. The festival is being held by the MME at Souq Waqif until August 12.
Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality implemented 348 applications for pest and rodent control throughout the municipality in July. The municipality also conducted a blood donation campaign in co-ordination with Hamad hospital. Employees as well as people living in areas under the municipality were invited to take part in the campaign.
