Low visibility is expected in the country in the early hours of Thursday due to fog, followed by thundershowers and strong winds later in the day, the Qatar Met department has said.
The weather office has also issued a warning for offshore areas, which will experience poor visibility at first as well as thundery rain, windy conditions and high seas.
The wind speed may go up to 25 knots during thundershowers in some inshore areas and 23 knots offshore towards the north by this afternoon. The detailed forecast for both inshore and offshore areas also says hazy to misty/foggy conditions are expected in some places in the early hours Thursday. This will be followed by cloudy conditions and there is a possibility of scattered rain, which may be thundery at times in some places.
While visibility may drop to 2km or lower at first due to fog, the sea level is expected to rise to 8ft towards the north by the afternoon.
A minimum temperature of 12C is likely in Wakrah, Mesaieed and Abu Samra on Thursday, while in Doha it will be 16C. On Wednesday, a minimum temperature of 9C was recorded in Abu Samra, Karana and Ghuwairiyah, and 15C in the Doha airport area.
The Met department, meanwhile, issued safe-driving tips in view of the low visibility experienced in some places due to the foggy conditions.
