First secretary of Indian embassy relocating

The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), along with other Indian apex bodies in Qatar – the Indian Sports Centre (ISC), Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC) and Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) – jointly bade farewell to Hemant Kumar Dwivedi, first secretary (Culture & Education) at the Indian embassy in Doha, on July 2.

Dwivedi will be taking up the new assignment given to him by the Indian government after completing his stay in Qatar since 2017.

ICC general secretary Krishna Kumar delivered the welcome speech while Sudhir Gupta compered the proceedings.

The evening started with ICC dance students performing a welcome dance choreographed by Kalamandalam Matilda Solomon.

The farewell ceremony was addressed by S Xavier Dhanraj, co-ordinating officer at the Indian embassy for the ICC, and attended by S R H Fahmi, Captain Mohan Atla, Dr Sona Soman, and Padma Karri, along with their families.

Apex body presidents P N Babu Rajan of the ICC, Dr Mohan Thomas of the ISC, Azim Abbas of the IBPC, and Ziad Usman of the ICBF shared their experiences and association with Dwivedi.

Indian school presidents and the ICC's immediate past managing committee members also attended the function.

Hassan Chougle, J K Menon, Manikantan and other Indian community leaders spoke about their experiences with Dwivedi.

The apex body presidents jointly presented a memento as well as souvenirs by the respective bodies.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by ICC vice-president Subramanya Hebbagelu.
