More than 40 Indonesian companies are showcasing their best products at Indonesia Expo 2019, the first ever solo Indonesian products exhibition in Qatar which opened yesterday at InterContinental Doha The City.
The three-day exhibition, which was launched by Indonesian Ambassador Muhammad Basri Sidehabi, features a wide array of Indonesian products such as paper, garment, jewellery, charcoal, medical equipment, food, IT, manpower service, furniture and tyre.
The expo provides platform to the business communities of Indonesia and Qatar for further cooperation as well as aims to seek new potential business partnership and collaboration.
“It is indeed our hope that the exhibition will open opportunity and further collaboration between the two countries especially in the field of trade exchange and investment,” Sidehabi stressed as he formally opened the expo.
He pointed out that “according to data from Qatar Chamber, trade volume between Qatar and Indonesia increased by 154 percent to $877m in 2018 from $346m in 2017 in which Qatari exports to Indonesia increased by $728m last year and Indonesian export to Qatar increased to $148m last year.”
“It is a quite encouraging number but I am convinced that there are ample rooms for improvement to increase our trade volume and also investment for the countries’ mutual benefit as well as economic relations in general. In that sense, Indonesia Expo 2019 is a part of the effort to achieve that goal,” the ambassador added.
With the tag line “Gateway to Indonesian Products,” the event also sees the participation of business delegation from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as its chapter of Aceh Province giving further boost to the expo.
The opening ceremony was attended by Qatar-Indonesia Business Council President Farhan Al-Sayed, prominent Qatari businessmen and ambassadors of various missions, among others.
Qatar and Indonesia have been enjoying cordial bilateral relations that have strengthened and developed in all fields through time for the benefit of the two countries.
The exchange of visits of high-ranking officials from the two countries in recent years speaks about it. The three-day exhibition is part of the efforts to even further consolidate the mutual cooperation in business sector and contribute to increasing the volume of trade exchange and investment.
The exhibition is open today and tomorrow from 10am to 8pm.
