First group of Turkish troops arrived in Doha yesterday to participate in joint exercises, as part of the signed agreements between Qatar and Turkey.
The Ministry of Defence’s Directorate of Moral Guidance announced that the forces started their first military exercise yesterday at Tariq bin Ziyad battalion camp in Doha. The exercises aim to raise the Qatari and Turkish fighting efficiency to develop a joint plan in order to fight extremism and terrorism, as well as peacekeeping operations before and after military operation. In addition, the exercises aim to develop a plan to implement wide joint operations, where the first of these exercises began with a presentation from the forefront Turkish ground military vehicles inside the battalion.
This comes a few days after the Turkish parliament decided deploying Turkish troops to Qatar and the ratification of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to the decision.
The exercises, which have been planned for some time, come within the framework of the joint defence agreement signed between Doha and Ankara, which aims to raise the defence capabilities of both sides through joint exercises in order to strengthen efforts to combat terrorism and maintain security and stability in the region.
