DOHA: The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) has released a statement with regard to misleading reports saying Qatar imposes stringent restrictions on media representatives during the FIFA World Cup.
On its Twitter handle on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, the SC stated:
There are inaccurate reports running in the media, which say strict conditions have been placed on media representatives during the FIFA World Cup.
The conditions for the FIFA World Cup filming permits are listed on the Qatar Media Portal, which has been made widely available to media representatives since early September.
In line with common practice all over the world, filming on private property is allowed, but requires consent from the owner or responsible entity for the property. Several regional and international media outlets are based in Qatar, and thousands of journalists report from Qatar freely without interference each year.
We call on all entities to ensure accurate reporting on this issue that reflects the processes that are in place.
