Filipino actress Isabel Granada died on Saturday in Doha after suffering from aneurysm while on a business trip to Qatar.
On October 24, Granada suddenly collapsed during a ‘meet and greet’ event with fans in Doha. A statement issued by Granada’s husband, Arnel Cowley, said the actress “suffered from a brain haemorrhage, which indicates aneurysm which in turn affected her heart”.
An official statement posted by Cowley on social media said: “It is with great sadness that (I announce) my wife Isabel Granada has passed away peacefully here in Doha, Qatar. She has been a fantastic wife, mother and daughter. She always did her best in everything she did, whether it be in front of a camera or sports.
“I would also like to take this time to thank the Filipino community in Doha for giving their full support throughout this difficult time for myself and the family.”
Thousands of Filipino expatriates in Doha expressed their sympathy for Granada's husband and her family, posting messages of love and condolences and saying she would surely be missed.
Granada, 41, arrived in Qatar with Cowley last month to speak at the Philippine Trade and Tourism Conference – Qatar, which was organised by the Association of Filipino Real Estate Executives in Qatar (Afreeq) in partnership with LiQha Trading and Creative Works.
She was reportedly in a coma and was being treated at the Heart Hospital.
Afreeq chairman Joseph Timothy Rivera condoled her death.
