Qatar's citizens and residents can register and host their friends and family members from abroad who hold the Hayya card during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, an official has said.
“The service available through Hayya platform (hayya.qatar2022.qa) under the category ‘register to host your family and friends’ requires only very basic information from the host about him and his guests,” said Saeed Al Kuwari, Executive Director of the Hayya platform at the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC).
Speaking to Qatar TV yesterday, he said the mega sporting event will be a meeting point for families and friends and a large number of people are expected to visit Qatar to meet their near and dear ones in the country.
"For example, a person who purchased a match ticket, applied for Hayya card, and received conditional approval, will request his friend in Qatar to host him."
A resident of Qatar who wishes to host a family member or a friend will register on the Hayya platform through the app or website. They will have to provide their QID number, validity of residency permit, date of birth and home address.
The host does not need the Hayya card, the official said.
“Then the system will ask the host to provide his home address. After confirming the national address, the applicant will be asked to add information about his guest: name, passport number and nationality,” said Al Kuwari. He said fans seeking one-day stay can also apply through the Hayya platform, which will enable them to book accommodation and get the Hayya card issued.
“Fans after applying for Hayya card will go for this service where they will be required to provide date and time of arrival in Qatar and date and time of departure from the country. That is all.” In this situation, he said, the card will allow for one-day stay only.
He added, however, that the card will remain valid, enabling holders to revisit Qatar whenever they get a match ticket.
