Doha: A series of earthquakes on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, occurred in the Arabian Gulf closer to Iran, the effects of which were felt in some coastal areas of Qatar without any damage, reported the Qatar Seismic Information Network of Civil Aviation Authority.
The report stated that seven earthquakes with magnitude ranging between 3.7 and 5.2 degrees occurred in the Arabian Gulf and one of the tremors was felt in some coastal areas of Qatar. "Today, a series of earthquakes (seven earthquakes so far) with a magnitude ranging between 3.7 and 5.2 degrees occurred on the eastern side of the Arabian Gulf (Iran). The main earthquake of 5.2 magnitude was felt in some coastal areas of the State of Qatar without any damage," stated the report.
It further added that geologically, these earthquakes occur as a result of the tectonic movement between the Arabian plate and the Iranian plate.
The department assured the citizens and residents of Qatar that such earthquakes do not represent any danger to the country.
