Racers are geared up for the commencement of the second round of the Qatar Drag Racing Championship, featuring practice sessions at the Qatar Racing Club (QRC) starting today.
The inaugural round of the 2023/2024 season delivered captivating competitions across 15 categories, enjoying the patronage of QRC Chairman H E Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Thani.
The event kicks off with two practice sessions today, followed by the third and final session tomorrow. Racers had the opportunity to test their vehicles and bikes on the drag strip, which opened yesterday in preparation for the upcoming round.
Registration and technical inspection for both cars and bikes are set to begin at 3:30 pm today. The first qualifying session for all categories will initiate at 5 pm, followed by the second qualifying session at 7 pm. Subsequently, elimination rounds for cars and bikes will unfold. On the following day, technical inspections will resume from 3:30 pm to 5 pm, leading to the commencement of the third and final qualifying round.
Based on the outcomes of the qualifying trials, competitors will be assigned to the elimination schedule, commencing at 7 pm. This will culminate in the final races across all categories, ultimately crowning the top three winners in each class. A new category has been added for this round, expanding the total number of categories to 15, with 12 dedicated to cars and three to bikes.
Responding to the requests from many competitors and bike racers, the Qatar Racing Club has introduced a new event to the calendar preceding the upcoming weekend. The drag strip will open its doors for the second roll race event this year, following the inaugural event on November 18. As per the schedule, registration will commence at 3:30 pm, and the competition will kick off at 5 pm on the track.
