Doha: The Regional Network for Social Responsibility has honoured the Executive Director of Administration and Finance Division at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI), Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, with the International Social Responsibility Excellence Award for 2021 in recognition of her efforts in the field of humanitarian and volunteer work.
DI Acting President, Dr. Abdelwahab El Affendi, was very pleased to receive the humanitarian and social responsibility action leaders on campus highlighting that humanitarian action in its true sense refers to virtue and charity, it’s a supreme value and the most important thing a person does in life.
“Social responsibility is highly appreciated at the Institute; education, academic work and research are of no value unless they benefit the people and society. Mariam will continue — from her position — to contribute directly or indirectly to humanitarian and social responsibility action,” he added.
Mariam Al Misnad said: “Giving me this international award is a true reflection of my faith and belief in the importance of consolidating the principles and concepts of social responsibility. The closest tribute to myself, which I have received many times without medals or honorary positions, is the feeling I get every time my team and I achieve a project, initiative or put forward efforts to serve the precious people of this country who live on its soil. Each act achieves a valuable goal and adds to society, which I consider to be the true honour to which I am entitled.”
Al Misnad added that social responsibility is at the forefront of her priorities and concerns as it constitutes an important part of her duty towards society and humanity.
International Ambassador for Social Responsibility Dr. Mohamed bin Saif Al Kuwari explained that social responsibility exists in all societies, despite the differences between one society and another.
He said there are rules that govern the behaviour of people and institutions, and stressed the need to consolidate the rules through legislation and laws.
Al Kuwari underlined the contributions of Al Misnad to humanitarian work at the international and national level, noting that such an honour would serve as a motivation for her to continue in the world of responsible giving.
At the end of the ceremony, which was attended by distinguished leaders of social responsibility and development work, in addition to many faculty members and students of the Master of Social Work programme at the Doha Institute, Al Kuwari honoured Al Misnad and gave her the International Social Responsibility Excellence Award for the year 2021.
