Doha: The Maritime Customs Administration at Ruwais Port foiled an attempt to smuggle cannabis into the country.
The contraband, weighing 4.2kg, was found hidden inside the engine of a refrigerated truck carrying a shipment of vegetables.
The contraband was detected in cooperation with the Police Canine Section in the Ministry of Interior.
The authorities have been issuing continuous warnings against carrying illegal substances into the country.
Customs officers are provided with all means of support including the latest devices and continuous training to read the body language of passengers and to be aware of the latest methods followed by smugglers.
