Doha: Embassy of Kazakhstan in Doha has announced to hold a number of cultural events in Qatar on the eve of 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence.
This was agreed during the meeting of Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Qatar H E Arman Issagaliyev with General Manager of Katara, Professor Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, held on August 1.
Particularly, in honour of the celebration of this significant anniversary date, the Kazakh diplomat proposed to organise photo and art exhibitions, concerts of classical music, opera and folklore groups, as well as screenings of Kazakh feature films at the Katara venues.
Al Sulaiti highlighted the interest in cooperation with Kazakhstan in the cultural direction and the importance of holding these events to familiarise Qataris with the rich and interesting culture and historical heritage of the Kazakh people.
The parties also agreed to hold the Day of Kazakhstan in Katara and to open a Kazakhstan corner in the planetarium ‘Al Thuraya’, located in this complex.
The Cultural Village – Katara is a unique and multifaceted project that unites all world cultures.
The complex includes opera and drama theatres, concert halls and outdoor venues, exhibition galleries, ultra-modern film and sound recording studios, thanks to which Katara strives to become a world leader in the field of multicultural activities.
Every year, international, regional and local festivals, exhibitions, and performances of world stars are held here. The name of the cultural village was borrowed from ancient sources. Since 150AD, Katara has been the first and oldest name of the Qatar Peninsula on geographical and historical maps.
