The Court of First Instance has ordered an insurance company to pay a sum of QR1mn to an Asian woman as compensation for the death of her only daughter in a road traffic accident, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.
The victim was run over by a vehicle insured by the defendant company with a third party compulsory policy. The motorist was also killed in the accident, and the investigations blamed his reckless driving.
Accordingly, the case was referred to the Criminal Court by the Public Prosecution, but the court dismissed the case due to the death of the motorist.
Accordingly, the mother of the woman who was killed in the accident filed a case against the insurance company concerned demanding a compensation of QR2mn for the loss of her only daughter.
Eventually, the court found that the insurance company has to compensate the woman for such a big loss as it involved irreparable emotional anguish as well.
