CMC suggests link between Salwa and Dukhan roads

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) should study the possibility of constructing a road linking Salwa Road with Dukhan Road, the Central Municipal Council (CMC) has recommended at its latest biweekly regular session.

Such a link road would be immensely beneficial to a large number of residents, as it would ease access to various key locations and facilities, it was pointed out.

The CMC also addressed issues of Al Furjan (neighbourhood) markets outside Doha and their need for support to continue in business.

The council suggested that the Qatar Development Bank (QDB) should look into the possibility of reducing the rents of the shops at Al Furjan markets on the outskirts of the country, when compared to similar commercial complexes.

The QDB should also give priority in renting these out to the residents of the neighbourhood concerned.

To avoid any inconvenience to the inhabitants of the residential neighbourhoods across the country, the council suggested that the Ministry of Municipality and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry create a special joint committee to closely monitor the commercial activities and avoid licensing warehouses or any other facility that could adversely affect the areas.
