Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has forecasted continued cloudy conditions until the weekend, with the possibility of isolated rainfall in certain areas. QMD also warned of potential thunderstorms accompanying the scattered showers.
Furthermore, QMD highlighted the onset of the Sarayat season, characterized by sudden weather changes. Known locally as Al Sarayat, this season typically spans from late March to mid-May. During this period, rapid convective cloud formations lead to intense thunderstorms, often accompanied by heavy rainfall and frequent lightning.
Additionally, Al Sarayat is notorious for strong downdraft winds, which can stir up dust in specific regions. The season's name originates from its tendency to manifest during evening and nighttime intervals, contributing to its unpredictable nature.
