The General Directorate of Civil Defence at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has chalked out a plan to set up three new centres in the country.
The centres will come up at Muaither, Lusail and Al Kheesa, local Arabic newspaper Arrayah has reported. They are part of the Civil Defence’s efforts to extend its services to more areas and help the residents concerned to avail the services easily.
Brig Hamad Othman al-Duhaimi, Director General of Civil Defence, said that the new centres will serve the areas and nearby localities by ensuring speedy and timely intervention during emergencies and accidents. The MoI official said that the new Civil Defence Centre at Al Wakra will start functioning soon.
It is to serve Al Wakra and nearby areas. With 31,000sq m, the centre consists of a main building with a ground floor and two upper floors. The centre has also parking facilities.
Al-Duhaimi said Al Wakra centre is among several projects to improve the efficiency of Civil Defence services in the country.
He pointed out that several new centres were built while the headquarters was set up at Wadi Sail in recent years as part of the Directorate’s efforts to improve efficiency.
