Doha: Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has predicted a local cloud development during the weekend with a chance of scattered rain, that may be thundery with blowing dust, at times in some areas. Hot weather conditions during daytime is also expected throughout the weekend.
In a statement on Twitter, the department said: "Local clouds usually form during noon time and dissipate before sunset as wind convergence in central areas between sea breeze coming from the eastern coast and sea breeze from the western coast, in addition to solar heating which causes rising air currents that form thunderstorms if enough moisture is present."
QMD also warned people against poor visibility inshore and offshore as well as sudden strong wind for both days.
The minimum and maximum temperatures for the next two days will vary between 31 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius, respectively.
On Friday, the wind is expected to blow mainly northwesterly to northeasterly at 8KT to 18KT gusting to 28KT at places with thundery rain.
On Saturday, the wind is expected to blow mainly northwesterly to northeasterly at 5KT to 15KT gusting to 25KT at places with thundery rain as well.
Sea heights on both days will vary between 1-3 ft.
Visibility during the weekend will mainly be 3 km to 8 km / 2 km or less at some places at first. On Saturday, visibility is forecasted to be much less due to fog offshore and thundery rain inshore.
QMD also mentioned that the "Wasmi" season, in which chances of local rain improve, will begin by the middle of October.
