There are chances of rain in the country by Friday night and these conditions may continue until Sunday, the Qatar Met department has said, while observing that low visibility is expected in most areas in the early hours of the day due to fog.
Thundershowers are also likely in offshore areas by Friday night, according to the weather office.
Scattered light rain was detected in parts of the country on Thursday, including Doha.
The rain is the outcome of a “state of atmospheric instability caused by a trough of low pressure over the region”, which is likely to last until the end of Sunday, according to a report issued by the Met department earlier this week.
During this period, the skies will remain cloudy at times and there is a chance of scattered rain, mostly light to moderate in intensity, with a “possibility of limited thundery cells over some areas”.
Friday’s detailed forecast says hazy to misty/foggy conditions are likely in most places at first, leading to a drop in visibility to 2km or lower. Cloudy conditions will also prevail and there is a chance of scattered rain in some places at times.
Offshore, it will be hazy and cloudy at times and there is a possibility of rain by night, which may be thundery at times. The wind speed in these areas may go up to 20 knots with the sea level rising to 6ft during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, the mercury level has gone up across the country and a minimum temperature of 16C is likely in Al Khor on Friday, while in Doha it will be 19C. The maximum, on the other hand, will be between 23C and 28C.
On Friday, a minimum temperature of 14C was recorded in Sheehaniya, Al Khor and other places, and 18C in the Doha airport area. The maximum ranged from 21C to 24C.
