Campaign to remove abandoned vehicles at Industrial Area

The Doha Municipality, represented by the General Control Department, has initiated a drive to remove abandoned vehicles within its jurisdiction. The exercise is in co-operation with the Abandoned Vehicle Removal Committee, the Department of Mechanical Equipment, the Department of General Hygiene and the Security Department of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) in line with Law No. 18 of 2017 on Public Hygiene.

Ghanem Nasser al-Qubaisi from the General Control Department in Doha Municipality, a number of Lekhwiya personnel and Doha Municipality officials along with employees participated, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Municipality last Thursday.

“The campaign in the area is the last round of this stage announced by the committee within the framework of completing the schedule for 2021. It aims to remove about 2,000 abandoned cars from various places in the Industrial Area during the campaign period. Nearly 750 abandoned cars were recently spotted,” he said.

Al-Qubaisi explained that the campaign will initially include the areas from Street 11 to Street 33 as a first stage and than it will move from Street 34 to Street 52. He urged the public and garage owners to co-operate with the authorities concerned to accomplish this work in order to preserve the aesthetic appearance of the country. The committee started its work plan with a campaign in Al Shamal, Al Khor and Al Thakhira, Al Daayen, Umm Salal, Al Sheehaniya, Doha, Al Rayyan and Al Wakra municipalities.
