Doha: The Cabinet, in its meeting held yesterday, approved a proposal to amend some provisions of the Labour Law and the Law regulating entry and exit of expatriates and their residence, in accordance with the recommendations of the working group formed to study that proposal. The Cabinet also approved a draft law on endowment.
Prime Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani chaired the Cabinet’s regular meeting which was held at the Amiri Diwan.
Following the meeting, Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi said that the Cabinet considered the topics listed on its agenda.
The draft law on endowment was prepared to replace Law No. (8) of 1996 on endowment comes, in the framework of updating legislation to keep pace with developments in this regard.
The draft law includes provisions related to the establishment of the endowment, its banks and conditions, the civil endowment, and the supervision of the endowment, its maintenance, architecture and investment.
The Cabinet also approved the proposal of Qatar Financial Market Authority to renew the membership of the chairman and members of the Appeals Committee of the Authority.
The Appeals Committee, established in Qatar Financial Markets Authority and chaired by one of the presidents of the Appeals Court and includes the membership of two Appeals Court judges and two experts in the field of securities dealings, is competent to rule on grievances from the penal decisions issued by the Authority.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet took the necessary procedures to endorse an agreement on industrial and technological cooperation between the Government of the State of Qatar and the Government of the Republic of Turkey, and an agreement between the Government of the State of Qatar and the Government of the Russian Federation on the mutual exemption of visa requirements for citizens of the State of Qatar and citizens of the Russian Federation.
The Cabinet took appropriate decisions on the outcome of the fifth session of the Qatar-Pakistan Joint Ministerial Committee for Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation.
It took appropriate decision on a report on the organisation of the exhibition of the State of Qatar, which was held on the sidelines of the 39th Session of the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights at the headquarters of the Secretariat of the World Intellectual Property Organization. Cabinet also took the appropriate decisions on the outcome of the eighth Islamic Conference of Environment Ministers.
