Cabinet approves draft decision to set up External Information Office

Doha: The Cabinet which met yesterday with Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani in the chair approved a draft Amiri decision to establish and organise the External Information Office.

According to the draft decision, the “External Information Office” will be established, affiliated with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and shall have a legal personality, with a budget attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Office aims to convey an accurate image of Qatar and highlight the country's priorities and vision.

At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet welcomed the results of the talks of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President of Egypt H E Abdel Fattah El Sisi, during the latter’s official visit to Qatar on September 13 and 14, which came within the framework of the brotherly and historical relations between the two countries, and the common desire to develop and advance them for the benefit of the two  peoples.

The Cabinet affirmed that the Qatari-Egyptian summit talks and the memoranda of understanding signed in Doha opened new horizons for the two countries to expand and develop cooperation in various fields, intensify efforts to serve Arab issues and enhance joint Arab Action.

The Cabinet also gave approval to a draft MoU for cooperation in the field of youth between the government of Qatar and the government of Turkmenistan.
