The Career Development Departments at Bedaya Centre, a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank (QDB) and Silatech, recently organised the second version of the successful ‘Volunteer for a Better Job’ event.
The importance of voluntary work was stressed at the event which focused on demonstrating how volunteering could transform into an actual job if one were to volunteer for diverse local events, representing diverse sectors.
The speakers were Fatma al-Taweel from Tomoh initiative; Aisha Jassim al-Kuwari, chairperson of Qatar Centre for Voluntary Activities; Dr Ahmed Taha, human resources expert; and Mohamed Shaheen, HR training specialist at Qatar University.
The event highlighted several skills that can be acquired by a volunteer during an event or exhibition, which in turn could enhance his communication capabilities. This is also considered an important asset for building new connections, as well as an attractive CV that will provide future job opportunities.
Bedaya Centre general manager Reem al-Suwaidi said: “Volunteering activity is one of the most important opportunities that can showcase the inner leadership skills that exist within every individual, besides enhancing and developing those skills. It is also a great platform for job seekers to attract enterprises and business owners.”
Bedaya Centre Career Development manager Ola Abdin felt that volunteer work is one of the best social phenomena that reflect the finest civilised human behaviour, and inherent many social benefits that aim to promote co-operation between team members.
Aisha Jassim al-Kuwari shared with the audience her personal experience in the field of volunteering which stretches back to over two decades and its impact on personal and
professional lives.
