Doha: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced that they will resume teaching the Holy Quran to students at the teaching centers for boys in mosques in the country, starting Monday, November 1, 2021, in line with the state’s plan for the gradual lifting of precautionary measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19).
The Department of Advocacy and Religious Guidance has prepared an plan to facilitate the resumption of the work of the Holy Quran education centers and the gradual return to what it was before the start of the pandemic, by taking into account the precautionary measures currently in place in terms of social distancing between students and between the educational staff, wearing a mask, requiring the completion of vaccination doses for educational staff, checking the temperature on a daily basis, and ensuring the health status before allowing workers to enter the centers.
Mal Allah Al-Jaber, Director of the Department of Call and Religious Guidance explained that the initial plan is to resume the return of students limiting to 61 centers in mosques, covering the majority of the country’s regions. The names and addresses of these mosques will be announced later, through the Ministry’s accounts in social media.
Al-Jaber noted that the registration process will take place at these centers in selected mosques, from November 1, 2021.
The Department of Da`wah and Religious Guidance called upon the public to abide by the terms and conditions set by the Department to accept the student, which are:
1. The student must be 10 years old or above.
2. To be within the geographical scope of the center.
3. Priority is given to students of the center who were previously registered before the pandemic at the beginning of 2020.
4. Bring a recent personal photo and a copy of the Qatari ID or passport.
5. Fill out the enrollment form for the centers of teaching the Holy Quran, signed by the guardian.
6. A pledge to abide by the official working hours and the rules and regulations in force, including the precautionary measures.
In this regard, the Department of Advocacy and Religious Guidance issued a circular to all civil centers licensed by the Ministry in accordance with Law No. 12 of 2011 regarding the establishment and organization of religious centers, allowing the return to the practice of the educational process for male and female students at the headquarters of these 25 community centers.
Al-Jaber stated that previously, in the first phase, nearly two months ago, all the endowment buildings, about six centers, whose learning centre were separate from mosques, were open.
Al-Jaber stressed the distance education will continue in the Quranic program (Tahed) for boys and girls, which is held through the platform of the Ministry of Education in the (Microsoft Teams) program, where the number of episodes is 406 episodes for boys, in which more than three thousand students are organized. And a number of 381 seminars for girls, in which more than 4,800 students of different ages and levels are organized, and are supervised by an administrative, technical and technical staff.
