Doha: The prayers in mosques are gradually returning to normal as the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has increased the waiting time between the call to prayer and prayer to 20 minutes.
“Starting from Fajr prayer tomorrow (September 16, 2020), the time between the call to prayer and the Iqaamah for Fajr and Asr prayers in the mosques will be 20 minutes,” Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has tweeted.
The Iqama or Iqamah is the second call to Islamic prayer, given immediately before the prayer begins.
The Department of Mosques at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs had instructed in the beginning of the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in Qatar to reduce the waiting time between the call to prayer and prayer to five minutes for all prayers as part of preventive measures.
