Ashghal installs solar lamps at worksites

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has installed solar lamps at West Umm Slal Ali project worksite.

Ashghal tweeted that it has replaced the traditional tower lights that work on diesel generators. The initiative is yielding many benefits including environmental, safety, energy and cost savings.

“The initiative is implemented by Metito as part of Lean Construction Principles that aim to improve site preparation level and enhance workers safety," it was explained.

Solar lights are also used at Um Ebairiya Village, South Umm Al Amad and North Bu Faseela project sites where development works are carried out by Ashghal.

The initiative ensures zero carbon emission and eliminates caused by the generators running on diesel. Also, it brings down the operational cost as the solar lights cost 68% less than the diesel tower lights. The operation cost is reduced by 98%.
