His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani will pay state visits starting Monday to a number of friendly countries in Latin America, including Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay and Argentina, at the invitation of their respective presidents.
During the tour, the Amir will discuss with the presidents and senior officials of those countries ways to promote bilateral relations and co-operation in all fields, and will exchange views on various regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Qatar has long enjoyed cordial relations with South American countries, some of which opened their diplomatic mission in Doha before elsewhere in the Middle East.
Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay and Argentina have all signed agreements and memorandums of understanding with Qatar to enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse fields and for closer diplomatic consultation.
