Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister of Malaysia, H E Dr. Mahathir Mohamad held an official talks session, at the Amiri Diwan, yesterday.
During the session, both sides discussed the close relations between the two countries and ways of developing and bolstering them in different spheres, especially in economy, trade, investments, tourism and education.
The session also discussed a host of regional and international issues.
Following the talks session, H H the Amir and H E the Malaysian Prime Minister witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the governments of the two countries on the establishment of a high-level joint committee between Qatar and Malaysia.
The talks session and the signing ceremony were attended by Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani and a number of Their Excellences Ministers, while on the Malaysian side they were attended by Their Excellences members of the official delegation accompanying H E Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.
H H the Amir and H E the Prime Minister of Malaysia discussed boosting bilateral cooperation and means to expanding the existing partnership between the two countries to cover various fields and serve the interests of the two peoples.
During the bilateral meeting H H the Amir and H E Malaysia’s Prime Minister exchanged views on the most important developments as well as regional and international issues, in addition to the Kuala Lumpur Summit 2019 scheduled on December 19, in which H H the Amir will participate at the invitation of the Malaysian Prime Minister.
H E Prime Minister of Malaysia arrived earlier at the Amiri Diwan where he was accorded an official reception ceremony.
H H the Amir hosted, at the Amiri Diwan yesterday, a luncheon banquet in honour of H E Prime Minister of Malaysia and the accompanying delegation. H E Prime Minister and Interior Minister and a number of Their Excellences the ministers attended the function.
