Al Shamal Municipality, represented by the Health Control Department, carried out 1,411 periodic inspections during the first quarter of 2020, a press statement by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) said.
During the checks, corrective measures were taken against eight establishments. A total of 1,155 heads of livestock were inspected while 12 carcasses were destroyed and 63 carcasses found partly damaged.
The checks also led to the closure of one store.
During the same period, the General Control Section carried out 920 periodic inspections. The inspections found 363 abandoned cars and 23 vehicles were removed in co-operation with the authorities concerned.
The Technical Control Department carried out 1,282 periodic inspections during which seven records were registered and four cases were transferred to the police.
The Department of General Services Affairs received 24 requests for trimming trees, 18 of which were implemented. The department also received 285 requests for pest and rodent control as well as requests to remove 504,460 gallons of rainwater and 130 dead animals.
The municipality, during the same period, also carried out development of the Al Shamal entrance and various roundabouts here.
Meanwhile, the municipality carried out 41 inspections at food establishments on Wednesday, wherein nine carcasses and 3,215kg of fish were inspected.
