Doha: Qatar football giants and the reigning QNB Stars League champions Al Sadd have appointed Javi Gracia as their new coach.
The 51-year-old replaces fellow Spaniard Xavi Hernandez, who last month joined his former club Barcelona after two years in charge of the Qatari side.
In their official Twitter handle yesterday, the Qatari club announced Gracia’s appointment and said he will be officially unveiled today at 11am at the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena.
Javi is expected to sign a contract with the Wolves until 2023, with the option of extending the same for another year.
Gracia has previously coached La Liga side Valencia and Premier League team Watford. The Spaniard was sacked at Vicarage Road four games into the 2019/20 season, with the Hornets going onto get relegated at the end of the campaign.
He then took over at Spanish side Valencia, but lasted just under a year in that position, with the La Liga outfit in 14th place at the time.
