Al Rayyan Municipality conducted 476 food health inspection tours in August in addition to 41 field reviews to issue new commercial licences.
In addition, the municipality conducted two surprise inspection campaigns jointly with other relevant entities, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment said in a statement.
Accordingly, two violation reports were issued pertaining to food safety.
During the same period, food items that were offered in some establishments within the municipality were destroyed by reason of being deemed unfit for human consumption.
These included 31 full carcasses of slaughtered sheep.
Meanwhile, health inspectors supervised the slaughtering process of 5,100 sheep at abattoirs. Fines collected amounted to QR22,500.
