HE the Minister of Municipality added that the opening of the Al Mazrouah yard in its new location in the Umm Salal Central Market came in order to encourage initiatives that support Qatari farms and food security, adding that the presence of the yard within an integrated market that includes vegetables, fish and meat will incentives consumers to visit more regularly. The minister expressed his hope that the initiatives put forward by the ministry will preserve the gains local agriculture have made in recent and advance towards the achieving the state's food security goals.
He noted that the yards for selling local produce plays an important role in marketing the products of Qatari farms, as it helps producers reach the consumer directly, and contribute to the completion of the food supply chain in the country, indicating that the presence of the yard inside the Umm Salal Central Market is more attractive to the consumer, pointing out that studying and applying this experience in Al Wakra Square, where work is underway to transfer it to a place that better serves consumers and includes integrated services.
On the sidelines of the inauguration, the Ministry of Municipality and Hassad Food signed an agreement to market farms' products for the coming agricultural season.
